Artist Statement — Abyss Node 12 06 25

Abyss Node 12 06 25 continues a visual lineage rooted in the iconography of vinyl culture, an era when album art served as a gateway into entire worlds. This work draws an unexpected thread to Duran Duran’s Rio, in part for its music, and also for its graphic language. That era’s design sensibility marked the dawn of the digital age, expressed through bold color, stylization, and an emerging sense of motion. It was a time when innocence and experimentation coexisted, before the omnipresence of the internet dissolved the tactile poetry of everyday life.

Back then, experience was physical. Magazines, books, album covers, and the walls that held art were the portals. Simple moments had density, presence, and an ease of beauty. Today, those qualities often feel buried beneath constant noise and digital saturation, treasures we must actively seek. Abyss Node 12 06 25 is created as a doorway back into that spaciousness.

Abyss Nodes function as portals: convergences of time, energy, and presence. They are not escapes but mergings, bridges between dimensions rather than departures from one to another. To experience them fully is to enter an immersive state, whether through an installation environment or a headset that blocks out external distraction. The intention is the same as entering a darkened movie theater in decades past: to let one world fall away so another can rise, without intellectual interference.

These works invite the viewer into a state of open, relaxed alertness, a quiet mind through which the intuitive, integrative, higher capacities of awareness can emerge. Contemporary neuroscience speaks of brainwave states, coherence, and vibrational patterns; Abyss Nodes resonate with these principles, offering a frequency space where the physical and non-physical, the material and the formless, can meet. When that meeting occurs, the creative life force, the intelligence of existence itself, flows through unobstructed.

This particular Node reconnects us to the 1980s, the last cultural horizon before technology transformed human attention. It honors the early pioneers of synth and digital exploration who opened pathways that would later reshape collective consciousness. And it acknowledges what has been lost in the acceleration: the foundational truth of presence, the essential connection that once emerged naturally in moments of boredom or stillness, lying on a bed, listening to a record, drifting into waking dream states where imagination dissolved the boundaries of the visible world.

In our era of endless scrolling and dopamine loops, those inner doorways are often left unopened. The result is a quiet epidemic of disconnection, a sense of dullness or depression that cannot be healed through external chemical management tools. The solution lies in returning to source, reawakening the innate portals that have existed since humanity’s earliest myths, when we first entered time and lost awareness of the timeless.

Abyss Nodes are non-local portals. Unlike sacred sites empowered by earth geometry, megaliths, pyramids, they are mobile, placeable anywhere. Their purpose is to reintroduce balance: to invite the formless back into the form-bound structure of modern life, to restore the wholeness that lives beneath our distraction.

Ultimately, Abyss Node 12 06 25 is a remembrance tool. To step into presence. To reconnect with the light of consciousness, which is love infused. When this connection is restored, even boredom becomes luminous, and life regains its depth, peace, and infinite creative potential.

This work is a portal toward that wholeness, an opening into the mystery that is always here, waiting.
