About Flow Line Faces

About Flow Line Faces:

Flow Lines are a foundational part of my life’s work. They are both a practice and an art-making process. Within this, there are two main forms: Flow Lines and Flow Line Faces.

  • Flow Lines: pure expressions of consciousness without any recognizable form. They look abstract and free of subject matter.
  • Flow Line Faces: these works always reveal some suggestion of a face, sometimes loosely formed with a head, eyes, mouth, or nose. Not every feature is always present, but often unique details emerge, such as a third eye or other symbolic elements.

Because these works do not reflect physical reality, I first described them as “soul portraits”, a poetic way of saying they portray consciousness itself. Each piece is like a portrait of individuality, expressed through my perspective as artist Gregory Beylerian, similar to the uniqueness of a thumbprint that every human being has.

The process begins with what I call a The Love and Truth active meditation. This meditation is both the intention and the technique, a presence awareness practice to create without contrived thinking or  judgment, letting the lines, colors, and forms flow directly from the higher self rather than the ego. In this way, the artwork becomes a mirror of the essential truth of being, what some traditions call the soul.

A Flow Line Face can be seen in many ways:

  • as the artist’s own meditative self-expression,
  • as a reflection of humanity’s infinite possibilities,
  • or as a kind of portrait, like traditional portraiture, but instead of showing the outer appearance, it reveals the inner dimensions of being using expressions of line and color.

The technique itself is a meditative practice. It creates a state of flow, where body, heart and mind are aligned with the environment, guided by higher awareness. Unlike the ego, which judges, analyzes, and tries to control, the flow state moves without judgment. When creation is freed from the opinions of the mind, a deeper truth emerges.

This truth expresses itself as unconditional love, the essence of spirit. The art becomes a doorway to experiencing love as the intelligence at the core of life itself. This practice is not only about making art, it is about living life guided by the same principles.

Whether drawing, creating, or simply going about daily life, shopping, walking, or dreaming, the practice of Flow Lines reminds us to move in harmony with our higher self. In this way, life itself becomes a living meditation of love and truth.
