Niki Botero

This mixed media portrait entitled “Nikita Botero” is a mashup of the grown-up love child of Fernando Botero and Niki de Saint Phalle may have looked like. Both of these artists were inspirations of mine. Growing up in New York City, there was a time when Park Avenue was lined with figurative Botero sculptures. My parents also had a large, colorful Niki de Saint Phalle print which I loved to look at each time I walked by it. Due to my attraction and paying attention to their artistic language, my aesthetic vocabulary is expanded to include the resonance of their inspiration in my heart.
