Abyss Node 11 30 25 | Exploration Is My Life
Artist Statement: Abyss Node 11 30 25 | Exploration Is My Life
Exploration is the thread that runs through everything I create. For me, exploration is not about striving, struggle, or heroic effort. It is not the sweat-and-summit journey of the traditional adventurer. It is something quieter, more fluid, an unfolding that happens when the body, heart, and mind align, and the friction of fear and judgment dissolves.
In this state, creativity becomes effortless. It moves like breath: natural, unforced, and whole. Words such as flow, grace, presence, and surrender describe this quality of experience. When I create from this place, I am not pushing against life, I am in harmony with it.
Alignment is essential. If the body, heart, and mind are the components of the vehicle, then the driver is awareness itself. When awareness leads, the creative act becomes a form of love making, not in the limited sense of romance, but as a profound expression of being fully aligned with one’s own truth. To create from love is to create from freedom. It is the moment we choose openness instead of contraction, love instead of fear.
This artwork was born from that openness. It carries the energy of my lived experience, my lineage, my memories, my imagination, woven into a perspective that is uniquely mine. The work draws from decades of experimentation with painting, photography, sculpture, sound, and new technologies. It brings together pigment and light, analog gesture and digital structure, hand-made textures and three-dimensional scans.
In many ways, the piece feels like a living environment: colors pulsing, shapes emerging, forms shifting as though inhabiting several dimensions at once. It recalls the energy of large-scale paintings from the 1970s and 80s that I was exposed to at the MOMA, yet expands into a world only possible with contemporary tools, projection, digital animation, sound, movement. These elements unify into an immersive field where imagination guides reality, not the other way around.
This approach returns to something innate. As children, we saw the world as fluid and full of possibility. Over time, the adult mind narrows, constrained by fear, habit, and inherited limits. But when the veil lifts, when perception becomes fresh again, we step back into the vastness we once knew. Creativity flows not only for the artist, but as a fundamental impulse of human life. It is the source from which cultures flourish and individuals awaken.
This work is simultaneously a reminder of and expression of that awakening. A mandala of becoming. A lotus rising from the murky pond into full bloom. It is both ancient and new, shaped by old tools and emerging technologies, by the expansive nature of dreams and the grounded reality of the human hand.
Ultimately, this work is an invitation, to explore, to align, to remember the infinite within us, and to allow life itself to become an act of creation.
