Returning to Love: An Evening at Lo Máximo with Homeboy Industries

An Evening of Transformation at Lo Máximo hosted by Jane Fonda.

This week, I had the honor of attending the annual Lo Máximo fundraiser for Homeboy Industries as a guest of Geri & John of the Cusenza Foundation, an inspiring evening centered on healing, transformation, and the power of compassion.

The event held special meaning for me, as my studio had previously been commissioned to create advertising imagery for Homeboy Industries and their bakery, as well as their coffee table cookbook, a project that blended stories of transformation from the Homegirls with urban gardening, food cultivation, and the journey of preparing and serving meals at Homegirl Café.

Returning to this community was a powerful reminder of the life-changing work being done.

Hearing Father Gregory Boyle speak was a profound experience. His message reflected the heart of Homeboy’s mission: radical compassion, unconditional love, and human connection free from judgment.

What Father Boyle has created through the Homeboy Way is extraordinary, building the largest and most successful gang rehabilitation and reentry program in the world, proving that love and belonging can transform lives.

It was an inspiring evening and a meaningful reminder that compassion, when put into action, remains one of the most powerful forces for change.
