Mechanical Dreams
Utilizing new tools to access the subconscious.
“Mechanical Dreams” is the consequence of a forgotten memory that resurfaced numerous times over 20 years but could never be realized until now. Sometime in the early 2000’s I can remember a most extraordinary dream where by I walked into my own large scale exhibition. The space was quite large, with wonderful white walls and spaciousness, it felt almost monastic, calm and present. I walked through the space observing large works of art that took my breath away, I had not seen anything like this before and the root feeling within me as I walked from piece to piece was aww inspiring. The feeling was unimaginable, literally, as I had never dreamed of such works in my waking state, this feeling was confirmed the moment I awoke. I was simultaneously excited and depressed. It was the most beautiful experience to witness and yet it was not real in the material world.
I would spend the next 20 years striving to recreate the feeling of what I experienced in that dream, by practicing the meditation I knew was designed for liberation. Although I could not remember the specifics of what the art had looked like, my other challenge was that I do not create from memory anyway. So the only guide map I had was to practice through creative exercises total freedom with the hope that I would return to the resonant feeling of what I felt in that dream.
This feeling was elusive til now. It required the birth of new technologies, artificial intelligence, alien intelligence, new digital tools that have become available, which created the bridge for the leap necessary to take. Although I can not recall the specifics of what the work looked like in that dream which excited me so deeply, I will never forget the inspirational spark which is what I finally have touched in this awakened dream.
