The Authentic Self 10/13/26
“The deepest fulfillment comes not from becoming who the world expects us to be, but from living in alignment with who we truly are.”
One of the most profound questions a human being encounters is: Who am I? As children, this question often lives through imagination. We dream freely about what we might become, inspired by stories, heroes, possibilities, and whatever awakens excitement within us.
As we grow older, the question becomes more complicated. The intellect begins calculating what is realistic, secure, respected, profitable, or approved by family and society. What once felt open and imaginative can gradually become surrounded by fear, expectation, and pressure.
This is how a person can build a successful life and still feel strangely lost within it.
Love and Truth calls attention to the Authentic Self.
The Authentic Self is not another identity we need to manufacture. It is the deeper truth of who we are beneath accumulated conditioning, expectations, fear, and the roles we have learned to perform. Different traditions may call this the true self, Being, soul, higher self, or consciousness. Love and Truth does not require a particular word or belief.
What matters is alignment.
Through daily exercises, body, heart, and mind return toward an open, relaxed, and alert state of presence. The body releases unnecessary tension, the mind becomes clearer, and the heart becomes more receptive to intuition. Active meditation develops the awareness to recognize when conditioning, fear, judgment, or external expectations begin pulling us away from center.
The practice does not create the Authentic Self. It creates the inner conditions through which what is already there can emerge more clearly.
Awareness becomes captain. The intellect remains essential for reasoning and discernment, but serves as co-pilot. The heart becomes the intuitive GPS, while the body carries that guidance into action.
This changes the way we approach dreams.
Instead of deciding who we should become and forcing ourselves toward that identity, we learn to recognize what genuinely comes alive within us. Dreams, relationships, work, creativity, and choices can then become expressions of the Authentic Self rather than attempts to earn approval, security, or worth.
This is also the deeper movement of the Hero’s Journey. The treasure is not simply something the hero acquires. It is the discovery and embodiment of the person who was waiting beneath the fear.
The path may still contain uncertainty and challenge, but we are no longer fundamentally lost. The inner compass remains available.
Clear the mind, open the heart, align the body, and allow your life to become an increasingly authentic expression of the self that was already there.
