6 Faces of Compassion
The 6 Faces of Compassion – Light overcomes Darkness
The 6 Faces of Compassion is a series of six abstract artworks created during the devastating fires that swept across Southern California and the Pacific Palisades. Each piece is a portrait of the same soul, expressed in six different forms, or “spirits.” Together, they tell a story about transformation: how even the darkest, most destructive forces can be turned into something positive through the power of love.
The Meaning of Six
The number six , six, six or 6 x 3 is often associated with darkness or negative energy, like the archetype of “hell” or destructive forces. In this series, the energy of darkness is not feared but embraced. These portraits represent the strength it takes to step into the unknown, face the darkness (unknown), and transform it into light. It’s about turning fear into love and negativity into compassion.
The Three Key Symbols ( 6 + 6 + 6 )
Each artwork in the series expresses three main symbols to explore this transformation:
1. The Ear (Listening Deeply)
The ear which is emphasized in the artwork, represents the ability to truly listen, not just with our ears but with our hearts and open minds. This kind of deep listening happens when the noise inside us is quiet, allowing us to hear clearly. The mind can be trained to listen (as awareness) or it can narrate, which fills up the inner cerebral space. It’s a reminder that truly listening is a powerful tool for those who want to bring light into dark places.
2. The Third Eye (Intuition and Inner Wisdom)
The third eye symbolizes intuition, a deeper knowing that comes from within when in being is in a certain state of mind. It shows the power of a calm, focused spirit, able to tap into the infinite potential of love and light (unconditional intelligence). This is the guiding intuition that helps us when we practice being relaxed and alert, especially in times of crisis.
3. The Divine Feminine (softness and Grace)
To balance the intensity of destruction (often seen as a masculine force), the artworks express a sense of softness and grace through colors and forms. This divine feminine energy brings harmony and gentleness to counter the fierceness quality of dark forces.
Transforming Darkness into Light
The 6 Faces of Compassion with each representing three principles reveal the truth that unconditional love can transform (bring illumination to) even the deepest darkness. By facing fear, listening deeply, trusting intuition, and balancing strength with grace, we can bring the light of the heart to even the most hopeless situations.
This series represents that these qualities, compassion and courage are universally functional to all dimensions of existence. They are available to anyone willing to practice and nurture them. Together, the six portraits serve as a powerful reflection of the truth that love is stronger than fear, and light can always overcome darkness.
