We are proud to present a unique and exquisitely designed pendant, “The Sacred Earth Cross”. This special cross is cast and hand finished entirely out of sterling silver. It is designed to hold a removable glass vial that is filled with earth from the very place that is believed Jesus Christ was crucified, buried and resurrected. This place is the “Church of the Holy Sepulcher” in the old city of Jerusalem. The Holy Sepulcher is considered by many to be the holiest place on earth. Within the walls of the church is Golgotha, the site of the crucifixion, and the Angel’s Chapel is under the dome. Here is the stone that the Angel is said to have rolled away from the entrance to the tomb were Jesus was resurrected. It was Emperor Constantine’s mother Helena who discovered the tomb of Christ on the site of a Roman temple to Aphrodite. Constantine later build the Church of the Holy Sepulcher over the tomb. Since this time the church has been rebuilt three times until its current transformation. The earth in each cross pendant is from a small room located about 7 yards from the tomb of Jesus. This is the closest location to the tomb where earth can be obtained. The gathering of the earth was supervised by a bishop of the church and blessed upon the stone of Unction, which commemorates the location where the body of Jesus was anointed by The Virgin Mary after his death. The Sacred Earth Cross is accompanied by a stunning silver chain, a map of the 14 Stations of the Via Dolorosa, which is the procession made by Jesus on his way to being crucified, plus a floor plan and pictures of the church as it stands today. The Sacred Earth Company also issues a certificate of authenticity that verifies that the earth in every pendant is indeed from inside the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in the Old City of Jerusalem. The earth was imported into the United States with a permit obtained from the United States Department of Agriculture.
