A play on words, “Match” is transposed from its original placement on the magazine cover in relation to Mohammad Ali’s essential photographic composition. By maintaining pose and perspective, yet transforming the total surface area, the artwork establishes the transcendental nature of Mohammad Ali that provoked his being to go beyond time and space. This state of consciousness revealed itself in the success of his movement just as the metaphor of the visual interpretation is revealed in his portrait first presented thru a commercial publication.
