The 1-Series and Z4 especially have more sculpted appearances and curved lines. Among BMW fans, the consensus seems to be "love it or hate it" [3]. Bangle has coined the phrase "flame surfacing" to describe his work; he notes Frank Gehry's work as an influence.
Despite the general new appearances, however, Bangle has respected several long-standing BMW traditions, including: trademark twin-kidney grille; quadruple headlights; and the Hofmeister kink. Proponents of Bangle's designs say that the new design direction represents a move into the future for normally stolidly conservative BMWs.
Bangle is not shy about defending his designs when they are criticized. He has the backing of the BMW board of directors, which wanted to move BMW's image into the future. He argues that it is necessary for product lines to follow a cycle of a revolutionary generation followed by an evolutionary generation followed by another revolutionary generation and so on. Indeed, he oversaw the conservative evolution of BMW designs with the redesign of the BMW 3-Series BMW E46 and the introduction of the BMW X5. For Bangle this marked the end of the evolution of BMW design and the revolution was witnessed with the 2002 introduction of the BMW E65. Bangle acknowledges that his designs do not look good in photographs, suggesting to critics that they should see the cars in real life before judging them on their looks.

Gregory Beylerian receives an honorable mention from The IPA Awards 2005.

IPA AWARDS: HONORABLE MENTION
YEAR: 2005
CATEGORY: FINE ART
SUBJECT: NUDES

GREGORY BEYLERIAN entry 9628 - Title: PaintForms #46 - LOS ANGELES, US

http://photoawards.com/

The International Photography Awards Competition is the world's largest most prestigious photography contest for professional photographers.

To salute the achievements of the world's finest photographers, to discover new and emerging talent, and to promote the appreciation of photography.

To view more information regarding this, you can click here to view the details in the PRESS section of the studio's web site.

The Paris L.A. That would include 6 pieces of luggage (with baby stroller) one beautiful baby, and a healthy chunk of the studio gear. Equipment brought: Photographic gear including 2 cameras, lenses, portable strobes, tripods and light stands. Audio recording gear, video equipment and of course a slightly trimmed down yet still complete drawing kit. Thankfully, we already had sewing machines, textiles and many other tools already in place at the family studio located in the 14th area of Paris.

2 months were spent in Paris with mini adventures to beautiful cities as far north as Amsterdam where great contemporary art is being generated. 1 month was spent in Cadenet, located in Provence. We lived in a stone house built around the 15th century. It was situated in the middle of a vineyard with mountains landscaping the background.

These three months were quite prolific for the studio:

1. A new collection of drawings were born called "The Cadenet Series" Click here to view them.

2. A beautiful new film was created using stop motion photography. The music for this short was created by Alain Martinez and we recorded it in the Paris studio. Click here to view film.

3. A 10 song cd of classic French street music was created while in Provence. The recording is comprised of well known compositions and a few originals by Mieke Bodart. We recorded this album on a roof top in Cucheron with one of the songs ending just as the local village church struck its bell for midnight, how perfect. It was an extraordinary time as we all lived together free and creative. This musical selection was our soundtrack, as they played each morning at the markets, then into the evening as we celebrated nightly with beautiful foods and wine. This recording was made during our last night together. Click here to see the album details and hear one of the songs.

Many photographic portraits were created with Jude's styling and beautiful couture. Many of the fashion creations will be presented this fall. In the mean time, you can see some of the portraits by clicking here.

It was an extra - ordinary experience, which seems more and more like a dream. Now we are back in L.A. in an other dream - land which has its own inspirations and pulse.
