Happy New Year - 2010!!!
The Beylerians wish you a
New Year filled with Love!

Artwork in final show of gallery that showed my work when I was 17...
"The King of Pop" moonwalks into the afterlife.
Today Michael Jackson passed away and in recognition of a profound and complex performer, I have created his portrait. Making this piece was at first more challenging as his facial dynamics changed so much through his adult life. I wanted to capture his essence while embracing the many sides of Michael Jackson into one all encompassing portrait of his being.
The artwork is available in an open edition series, signed for $50 in the Store.
Perhaps his most influential album for me was, “Off The Wall” which he recorded in 1979. He made the album with Quincy Jones and many performers contributed such as Paul McCartney & Stevie Wonder.
He won his first Grammy with this album and it ultimately ended up in the Grammy Hall of Fame.
Poster art created for GAZA REBIRTH Project.
GAZAREBIRTH
ARTISTS
FROM AROUND THE WORLD
JOIN
IN SOLIDARITY TO RAISE FUNDS FOR GAZA’S
CHILDREN
A
collaborative exhibition featuring the work of 50
artists is underway in the Hudson Valley. The
exhibit, titled “Gaza Rebirth: Artists in
Solidarity,” seeks to raise awareness of
Gaza’s plight as well as Israelis’ and
Palestinians’ struggle to foster mutual
understanding and peaceful coexistence. Fifty percent
of all sales will be donated to the children of Gaza.
“Gaza
Rebirth” will kick off with a public
celebration on June 21 (summer solstice) at the
Baraka complex in Stanfordville, NY (12-7) and
thereafter will remain open to the public every
weekend through August 21.
Maxwell Kofi Donkor, international and national known
master drummer from Ghana will perform live at the
opening celebration. Kofi leads drum circles for
children, has been very influential in the
arts-in-education program in schools and communities
in the Tri-State region and has played with
world-renowned drummers, like Baba Olatunje and
Mickey Hart. He believes in the use of cultural arts
as a conduit in community building, teamwork,
leadership, diversity and self-esteem.
“Gaza Rebirth” organized and curated by
Kardash Onnig, a Hudson Valley-based sculptor,
activist, author, inventor, and toymaker is based on
the concept of what he calls “symbiotic
synthesis,” which has deep roots in
Kardash’s Armenian background. For example, in
the 4th
century,
following a millennium of conflict between the
Armenians and the Parthians, a common alphabet was
invented to facilitate communication between the two
nations which was the first major step towards
peace.
This design objective for this artwork was to propose
a visual merging of two flags, two identities, two
peoples hearts into one. Using the topographical
landscape as an underlying component to the trauma
and the solution. Using Onnig’s Torso as the
symbolic union via the maternal essence of the
universal mother. Gaza Stripped is the path to truth,
in saying, when a person is stripped of their
clothes, their cultural identity, we can begin to see
the common component, The humananity.
535 Fifth Ave Lobby...
This is a rear illuminated work of art installed in the main lobby at 535 Fifth Ave. New York, N.Y. The Lobby renovation was designed by The Gensler Architectural firm. I was asked to provide ideas for the space allocated and responded with 10 different conceptual drawings, all representing The culture, life or architecture of New York City. They chose to go with a portrait of “The Grand Central Terminal” which is a landmark located just around the corner from the building. This piece stands at 10 feet tall and 4 feet wide and is built into the wall using state of the art, day light balanced continuous lighting technology. There are no windows in the lobby and wanted to get as much of a “feel” for natural light ambiance and it really helped for the tones in the sky and clouds to come thru on the piece.

a special Forum on Forgiveness has been slated at the
All Saints Church in Pasadena. Speakers, discussions,
films will all be part of the agenda, as we look at
"Local Reconciliation~ Global Peace."
"It seems that the only language people speak these
days is that of war," said Fr. Vazken in his weekly
message. "We need to change our metaphors. If we are
to imagine a world with peace, we must speak a
language that includes forgiveness, as much as it
does tolerance and understanding."

The film, narrated by
George Clooney is
powerful in content and message. A question and
answer session with the producer will follow.
For
Beylerian,
this is his second round with the 7x77 formula. In
2005, he composed the picture of Armenian youth
standing in the desert, in a symbol of solidarity and
lasting forgiveness.

7 X 77

On April 24, 1915, the
Armenian people were forcibly marched into the
desert and executed. The Armenian nation was
exiled from its ancestral homeland. Over 1.5
million people perished at the hands of the
Turks in what became known as the First Genocide
of the 20th Century. Despite volumes of
written documentation, foreign government
archives and eyewitness accounts, the Turkish
government has yet to accept
responsibility.
One of Jesus’ disciples,
Peter, asked him, “Lord, how often should I
forgive someone who has hurt me? As many as seven
times? Jesus answered “Not seven
times, but, I tell you, seventy-seven
times.”
Ninety years after the Genocide of
1915, a group of men and women – many of whom
were descendents of survivors – marched onto a
desert. On Sunday, April 24, 2005 this group donning
t-shirts with the mathematical notation
“7x77” lined up with their palms united
in a human ribbon of love and solidarity. They
walked in
the shoes of a generation who knew only
suffering. They walked in the shoes
of Christ knowing that
love is a greater power than evil.

Chris Bangle
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Christopher Edward Bangle (born on 14 October 1956 in Ravenna, Ohio), is an American automobile designer. He is the Chief of Design for BMW group, responsible for design strategy and conception across all BMW's brands including Mini and Rolls Royce.
Bangle was raised in Wisconsin, and after considering becoming a Methodist Minister [1], attended the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California.
Bangle began his career at Opel where he designed the interior of the Junior concept car. He later moved to Fiat where he became chief designer and was credited with the design of the angular Fiat Coupé.
When he joined BMW in 1992, he had little complete-car track record, and became their first American chief of design. The 1999 Z9 concept car marked a departure from BMW's traditional conservative style, and his latter work has caused some controversy among BMW enthusiasts. But his designs have sold, and after being replaced as Chief Designer of BMW by Dutch protégé Adrian van Hooydonk [2], Bangle became the Chief of Design for the whole BMW Group, including Mini and Rolls Royce.
Design characteristics
Designs which Bangle has overseen include the 1 Series, 3 Series, 5 Series, 6 Series, 7 Series and Z4 roadster. These designs deviate from BMW's usual, more conservative muscular styling, which emphasized functional, rigid, straight-line forms. The 1-Series and Z4 especially have more sculpted appearances and curved lines. Among BMW fans, the consensus seems to be "love it or hate it" [3]. Bangle has coined the phrase "flame surfacing" to describe his work; he notes Frank Gehry's work as an influence.
Despite the general new appearances, however, Bangle has respected several long-standing BMW traditions, including: trademark twin-kidney grille; quadruple headlights; and the Hofmeister kink. Proponents of Bangle's designs say that the new design direction represents a move into the future for normally stolidly conservative BMWs.
Bangle is not shy about defending his designs when they are criticized. He has the backing of the BMW board of directors, which wanted to move BMW's image into the future. He argues that it is necessary for product lines to follow a cycle of a revolutionary generation followed by an evolutionary generation followed by another revolutionary generation and so on. Indeed, he oversaw the conservative evolution of BMW designs with the redesign of the BMW 3-Series BMW E46 and the introduction of the BMW X5. For Bangle this marked the end of the evolution of BMW design and the revolution was witnessed with the 2002 introduction of the BMW E65. Bangle acknowledges that his designs do not look good in photographs, suggesting to critics that they should see the cars in real life before judging them on their looks.

The STUDIO returns to L.A. after 3 months in France.
2 months were spent in Paris with mini adventures to beautiful cities as far north as Amsterdam where great contemporary art is being generated. 1 month was spent in Cadenet, located in Provence. We lived in a stone house built around the 15th century. It was situated in the middle of a vineyard with mountains landscaping the background.
These three months were quite prolific for the studio:
1. A new collection of drawings were born called "The Cadenet Series" Click here to view them.
2. A beautiful new film was created using stop motion photography. The music for this short was created by Alain Martinez and we recorded it in the Paris studio. Click here to view film.
3. A 10 song cd of classic French street music was created while in Provence. The recording is comprised of well known compositions and a few originals by Mieke Bodart. We recorded this album on a roof top in Cucheron with one of the songs ending just as the local village church struck its bell for midnight, how perfect. It was an extraordinary time as we all lived together free and creative. This musical selection was our soundtrack, as they played each morning at the markets, then into the evening as we celebrated nightly with beautiful foods and wine. This recording was made during our last night together. Click here to see the album details and hear one of the songs.
Many photographic portraits were created with Jude's styling and beautiful couture. Many of the fashion creations will be presented this fall. In the mean time, you can see some of the portraits by clicking here.
It was an extra - ordinary experience, which seems more and more like a dream. Now we are back in L.A. in an other dream - land which has its own inspirations and pulse. Check back soon if you are interested to see what comes to the surface and is revealed next....
